Your activation code for My Car Is Born is provided in the welcome email from your BMW dealer, which is sent after you order your new vehicle. When you receive your code, type it into the associated field on the My Car Is Born page within the BMW Connected app. If you didn't receive a welcome email, please contact your dealer and ask for a new email to be sent.

Your individual settings will automatically be saved in a profile and assigned to the used remote key upon leaving the vehicle. When reusing the same remote key for the vehicle the assigned settings are automatically set in the vehicle. Driver profiles are part of BMW ConnectedDrive. They combine various settings for radio stations, Hi-Fi systems, navigation, favorites buttons, seats, mirrors, seering column, camera, lights, central door locking, head-up display, air conditioning, language, driving assistance systems and driveability. You can use up to three driver profiles as well as one guest profile. The different driver profiles can be selected via the control display from the onboard computer. Here it is possible to rename, delete or export your profile on to a USB stick in order to use it in another BMW. With certain older BMW models driver profiles cannot be viewed in the vehicle.

Ex factory the option code SA 6CP is required. If your vehicle is equpped with the either the option SA 6NS, 6NW 6NP, 6U9 or 6FR, Apple CarPlay can also be ordered in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store.

All BMW models fitted with the option code 6AK ("ConnectedDrive Services") or 6NR ("Apps") and the Professional navigation system can draw on all functions in conjunction with a smartphone and the BMW Connected App, which is available free of charge from the Apple Store or Google Store. In addition, you should also have a suitable mobile phone contract. Some of the BMW Connected applications make intensive use of broadband data services (e.g. Web radio).

You have to download the application onto your mobile end device before you can use the BMW Connected App in the vehicle. In the case of an Apple iPhone, please use the Apple App Store for this purpose, in the case of an Android phone download is via the Google Play Store.

You can use personalized services in your BMW by logging in to the BMW ConnectedDrive Portal with your access data in your vehicle. In order to do so select the menu point "ConnectedDrive" in the main menu and then select "BMW Online". Now press the "Option" button on your iDrive Controller. Then select the menu point "Login". Here, first insert your e-mail address and confirm with "OK". Following this enter your password and again confirm with "OK". We recommend to enable "Auto-login" by checking the box next to it. Please note however, that this will enable every vehicle user to access your personal data (e-mail, address book, etc.).

You can find addresses or destinations which you send to your vehicle as "My Info" in the menu CONNECTEDDRIVE/MESSAGES. You can accept the address of the point of interest for route directions by pressing a button in the navigation system. If there is a telephone number for the point of interest and you have connected your mobile phone with the vehicle, you can dial the number directly.

The planned routes are saved in your BMW Online profile and can be imported into the vehicle. Follow these instructions to do so: 1. Select "Navigation" in the main menu. From the map view push the iDrive Controller to the left twice to get to the navigation menu. 2. In the navigation menu select "Saved trips" and "Import trips". 3. You will then be connected with "BMW Online" and can select the desired route under "My routes". 4. The route will now be imported into your BMW and can be started via the navigation menu. Imported routes are saved in your BMW.

BMW ConnectedDrive services are all booked for a specific vehicle. When a vehicle changes hands, its services can be used by the new owner for the remaining service life. You will have to rebook the services for your new vehicle.

Select "Settings" then "Driver Profiles" in the main menu. Here you will find the three personal driver profiles and the guest profile. The profile that is currently used is marked with a green tick. Now select export via USB, connect a storage medium and press "OK". We recommend the use of a USB storage medium in the "FAT32" or "exFAT" format.

We are selling the interface for using Apple CarPlay. Our current understanding is that Apple needs to make sure that the interface to Apple CarPlay works with its iPhones – also with future updates. However, there is no guarantee for endless support of this interface by Apple. Therefore: The compatibility and the functionality of your iPhone with Apple CarPlay Preparation depends on the year of construction of the iPhone and the software installed on it. This info can be obtained from the iPhone manufacturer.

The CarPlay interface can have pages just like your iPhone home menus. However, there are direct links from your BMW’s iDrive screens that will take you to the CarPlay menus when needed. For example, the Multimedia menu in iDrive will have a direct link to CarPlay.

The BMW Connected application functions are located under the menu command "BMW Apps". In order for the functions to be displayed, your smartphone must be connected with your BMW, and the BMW Connected application must be running. If you are using an Android smartphone, ensure that the [accessory mode] under [ConnectedDrive] [BMW Apps] [connection assistant] has been activated after connecting the smartphone with the vehicle. Provided that an upcoming meeting is saved in the BMW Connected App, the vehicle will show a welcome screen including navgation to destination and the option of calling or messaging participants on the estimated time of arrival.

Yes, different Bluetooth functions can be active at the same time. After the smartphone is successfully paired, select the connected device under “Mobile devices” and activate or deactivate the respective functions, such as “Telephone”, “Bluetooth-Audio” or “Apps”.

We do not deactivate Bluetooth telephony if a CarPlay device is connected. You can use the steering wheel button to answer an incoming call. You can use touch and/or iDRive to answer an incoming call in the CarPlay UI. The same is true for making a call.

If the message "Connection not possible" repeatedly appears in your vehicle when you try to execute various BMW ConnectedDrive services, please first make sure if your vehicle is connected to the mobile network. This is often the case in underground parking garages for example. Is this not the case, please contact your BMW Service partner.

The service quality of the online applications from BMW Connected is substantially influenced by the coverage of the mobile telephone networks or the current reception quality. In many cases, poor local reception is indicated by low signal strength. Even if your smartphone displays a good signal strength, this does not necessarily mean that the service quality will also be good. Service quality frequently depends on other network-specific parameters.

The route preview shown when planning a trip in the app is a prediction of the best route to take based on current traffic conditions. In some cases that route, and the estimated travel time, may change once navigation has been handed over to the car. This can be a result of fluctuating traffic conditions, and/or the recency of the map installed in your car.

In order to send points of interest from Google Maps to your vehicle, you are required to have the special equipment option "ConnectedDrive Services". Please activate the sending of destinations to your vehicle via partner websites in the "Send to Car" menu. If you are using the new Google Maps you need to login with your Google account in order to use the "Send to car" feature in the full map view.

Incoming calls are now received via the iDrive System. In the menu “Communication” outgoing calls can be made by selecting either “Contacts”, “Recent calls” or “Dial number”. Keep calm. A voice connection to the BMW Call Centre will be established. Safety reasons mean that you cannot terminate the voice connection yourself. Tell the person you are talking to the reason for the emergency call. If you do not respond to the Call Centre agent’s questions, he/she will assume that there is an emergency situation and will inform the nearest emergency services unit of an accident. You must therefore report that you have triggered the emergency call by accident; otherwise you may incur financial costs.
