No, BMW CarData is a service based on BMW ConnectedDrive. Using BMW CarData requires an active BMW ConnectedDrive contract. Such a contract should already exist if your vehicle already has teleservices. You do not need to add any additional BMW ConnectedDrive services to be able to use CarData.
You can renew your ConnectedDrive services from the ConnectedDrive Store link which can be found after logging in to your account at www.bmw-connecteddrive.nsc or if you have already added your payment details online you can renew from within the car. Go to the ConnectedDrive menu, then ConnectedDrive Store and you can choose the service you wish to book and the subscription you would like to take out.
A BMW ConnectedDrive Account is required. Your vehicle must be able to use ConnectedDrive. For vehicles with a construction date before 3/2012 the SA 612 (BMW Assist) is required. For vehicles with a construction date after 3/2012 the SA 6AK (ConnectedDrive Services) is required.
When you login to your ConnectedDrive account at www.bmw-connecteddrive.nsc you will be able to see your BMW at the top of the screen and then on the right-hand column a list of currently active services and below this a link to services that are available to add to your BMW.
In order to purchase services in the vehicle the following preparation is necessary:
1. Register for ConnectedDrive. This can either be done on your PC at www.bmw-connecteddrive.nsc or in the BMW ConnectedApp for Apple and Android.
2. Submit your complete address as well as the information of the credit card you wish to use to pay for the services at www.bmw-connecteddrive.nsc on your PC.
3. Map your vehicle to your ConnectedDrive Account.
Now open the ConnectedDrive Store in your vehicle. Select the service you wish to purchase.
Now click on "Offers". The offer including runtime and prices is now shown. Choose the preferred offer and click on "Continue". You will now be redirected to the log in page. Log in with the e-Mail address that was used to create your ConnectedDrive Account and your password. Accept the terms and conditions and click on "Order with obligation to pay".
Here the offers including runtimes and prices are displayed. Choose the preferred offen and click on "Continue". If you are logged in with your diver profile you only have to accept the terms and conditions and click on"Order with obligation to pay". If you are not logged in with your driver profile you will be redirected to the log in page. Log in with the e-Mail address that was used to create your ConnectedDrive Account and your password. Accept the terms and conditions and click on "Order with obligation to pay".
Data are always linked to the vehicle identification number of your vehicle and stored in order to render BMW ConnectedDrive services, but are not linked to your name. In some cases it is possible to render the services on the basis of anonymised data, in which case they are not linked to your vehicle identification number. The allocation of data to your name (or your user account) takes place within the scope of using personalised services, such as remote services.
Only persons who require the information in order to provide BMW ConnectedDrive Services. The list of persons is checked on a regular basis. Data is only transmitted to BMW ConnectedDrive service providers to the extent in which it is necessary to operate the respective BMW ConnectedDrive Services. Data is exclusively used to provide the service and is deleted after use.
To log into My BMW ConnectedDrive please use your e-mail address (user name) and password you have saved when you registered at My BMW ConnectedDrive in the past. If you do not have any access data yet, please click on the "Register now" link in the login box on the start page of My BMW ConnectedDrive.
If you currently do not have access data with BMW, please register on the website www.bmw-connecteddrive.nsc with your e-mail address and select your personal password. A link which must be confirmed will then be sent to the respective e-mail address. Following this you just need to register your vehicle in the portal in order to directly manage your personalized services based on your needs.
You will authorise any transfer of the telematics data to a third party via BMW CarData for a specific purpose.
This purpose must be stated by the third party when sending you a request for access.
If you (or we) should find that the third party is not using the telematics data for the defined purpose, this constitutes abuse.
BMW will become active in this case and may prevent further use of the BMW CarData services by the third party.
We want to ensure that unauthorized persons can purchase ConnectedDrive Services in your name. Due to this you must log in before purchasing a service.
For the most recent iDrive system (ID7):
If you have logged in with your driver profile in your vehicle you do not need to login in again for every purchase as you are already logged in to the vehicle.
Telematics data transferred to BMW servers by your vehicle will be saved there in accordance with the latest state of technology. Any transfer to third parties only takes place with your explicit prior consent and for a specific purpose,
The purpose for which the requested telematics data are to be used and the contact data can be found in the BMW ConnectedDrive Customer Portal. In the event of questions please contact the third party/ service provider.
Either you have not yet added a vehicle to your user account in the "Manage vehicles" menu or you have removed a vehicle that had been added. When you add a vehicle, it may take up to 24 hours before it is displayed in My BMW ConnectedDrive.
Your BMW dealer can help you change your preferred service partner. A correspoding form is on hand at your dealer. It is also possible to change your service partner via the BMW ConnectedDrive Portal in the internet under "Manage Vehicles" and then selecting "Service Partner".
